Voting Question: Could I get loose waves/curls from a perm?

I have super dark hair that is down to my chest when fully straightened other wise it has slight waves to it. Anways, i have had a perm before when my hair was shorter and I had tight ringlets- don't get me wrong I liked it, but I like the longer curly look better. So is tehre any way I could get a loose curl/ beach wave perm?
